I have been inspired to challenge myself as a writer. The inspiration has come from photographer Wil Clarkson and his project bbc52. I am aiming to write a 1000 word article on the theme set by the BBC weekly photo competition, 1000 words a week every week for 52 weeks. 52000 words

The themes for the next few weeks are…

• 6th December – Birds
• 13th December – Chilly
• 20th December – Christmas

Motivation for “52000words”

I recently became a Communications Manager, essentially I am a science writer. I write web articles and press releases concerning the science, research and activities of scientists.

I aim to have posted my 1000 words by 1200 GMT on the dates above – this is to give me the feeling of having a journalistic deadline. I have five days to write 1000 words about birds… here goes.

Bad Start

This blog started badly … Argh, what a bad start. I’ve missed the first deadline, for the theme Birds. I moved house and everything got very busy. Not an excuse. But I am going to be on track for the next deadline – Chilly. Watch this space.
