3 August – Shangri La and sunburn

Shangri La, on the tibetan plateau at a height of 3500m above sea level. Highest I’ve ever slept. Pretty cool. Strange dreams though.

Early start woken by some one knocking on the door at 6.30am. Presume they were on another tour, or they were annoyed at being woken to get on their bus so decided to wake us up too. I was unhappy!

We went to the monastery, which is still working and explored Tibetan Buddhism, which seems more aggressive and brightly coloured than the other forms of Buddhism that we’ve found on our trip. Linz and I decided that although some of the parts of Buddhism are good, we don’t like the leaving food at the Buddha when there are so many hungry people in the world.

We then got an hour or so of sunbathing time as the others walked around the lake. Linz got ever-so burnt and it was quite an ordeal for her to keep cool in the minibus. Very red face!! 🙂

There was a lovely little girl playing next to a tourist shop. I managed to get one alright picture of her looking cute, she was a bit shy of us.

We started the drive back to Lijiang, Drive stopped for lots of views so we could take pictures.
