Later start today, but woken early by the normal mass exodus of tourists off on their coaches. I braved breakfast on the roof. It was the same hotel in Lijiang as last time. The roof breakfast set up was really quite strange. Small table and chairs as if we were at primary school.
Then at 9am we headed to the Black Dragon Pool and park, the same fun tour guide turned up. This is the one that said the first time we met him that “if he’d know what type of group we were then he would not have accepted the job”. Turned out he speaks almost fluent English, after not saying a word to us last time. Strange.
Anyway, we went to a really good museum with an English speaking tour guide, free and really good. Only a small museum but really interesting. The tour guide legged it shortly after we’d done the walk around the lake. Nob.
Lunch from a very good supermarket, and then we set off for Dali. The driver was great again and took us to lots of lovely views and stuff. Good times.
In the evening we went to Dali old town on the number 9 bus (15p for 30km) and had some food and a then bit of time for shopping. Before heading back to the train station for our sleeper/horror train. Currently I am on the top bunk. With approximately 8cm of head room.
