Rant #2 – Cha Hua Hotel, Dali

Yuck. We just checked into our hotel in Dali, China and it is horrible. It is our first night in accommodation whilst on this tour organised by a travel agent.

The room is really dirty. The toilet doesn’t flush. The bathroom is disgusting. The shower is a joke. They have provided us with around 8 sheets of toilet paper.

The window doesn’t close. The floor is really dirty. The TV might just work (important as the Olympics are on). The plaster is peeling off. The walks are filthy.

And did I mention that the bathroom is horrible. Really bad.

Oh, and the towels have holes in and the bed is harder than the sleeper last night. Plus we have to wait until 7.30pm for hot water. Really. Waiting for hot water……..

The socket is definitely not safe as it is hanging of the wall.

Some positives. It doesn’t smell of cigarettes. Or death. Our last hotel smelt really really awful.

Additionally the room isn’t moving, there are no triple bunk beds, as far as I know the hotel doesn’t have a horn, nor are we expected to share with for other people, or smokers. Or children.

There is a kettle.

Update…..The story doesn’t end there. Troy’s mum, well, she got angry and complained, so we got new rooms. Boom. These rooms are 17 times better. Cleaner, the window closed, the toilet flushed properly and we were much happier. I really like Troy’s mum.

The beds were still like blocks of wood, and there was still only 8 sheets of toilet roll. At least  it was 2-ply toilet paper (see post about Japan).
